I currently serve as the Acting Head of the Department of Drug Production and Development at the Institute of Traditional and Alternative Medicine (ITAM). I am a neuropharmacologist focused on investigating the therapeutic potential of Ghanaian medicinal plants for managing neurodegenerative disorders and alleviating heavy metal-induced neurotoxicity. I employ molecular docking, network pharmacology and experimental validation, both in vitro and in vivo, to identify bioactive compounds, their targets and mechanisms, particularly in pathways such as oxidative stress, neuroinflammation and mitochondrial dysfunction, among others. I seek to identify new neuroprotective agents while elucidating the mechanisms underlying neurodegeneration and heavy metal neurotoxicity. I also teach pharmacology at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels at the School of Pharmacy. Additionally, I teach pharmacology at undergraduate level at the School of Nursing and Midwifery, the School of Allied Health Sciences and the School of Medicine. I offer consultancy services to traditional medicine practitioners on the safe and appropriate use of herbal medicines.
