Dr. Irene Honam Tsey is a Research Fellow at the Institute of Health Research, University of Health and Allied Sciences, Ghana. She is a bioethicist, qualitative researcher and implementation scientist with expertise in health research ethics, community and public engagement, gender and health equity, stakeholder engagement and evidence translation. 

She holds a PhD in Public Health, with a specialization in Health Policy, Planning and Management, from the University of Ghana and a Master of Social Science in Health Research Ethics from the University of KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. Her research spans genomics and biobanking, neglected tropical diseases, maternal and newborn health, mental health, vaccine access, antimicrobial resistance and health systems. She has coordinated and contributed to multidisciplinary research supported by international partners, including WHO/TDR, EDCTP3, the Alliance for Health Policy and Systems Research, the Fleming Fund, the US National Institutes of Health and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. Dr. Tsey also contributes to research ethics governance and capacity strengthening and is a member of the Africa CDC Community and Public Engagement Working Group. Her work centres on strengthening ethical, inclusive and context-responsive research and translating evidence into more equitable health policy and practice.
