I am a senior academic obstetrician and gynaecologist with over two decades of experience in medical education, tertiary clinical care, research, and reproductive health leadership. As a full-time medical educator, I advanced from a Lecturer at the School of Medical Sciences, Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) in 2013 to Professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, School of Medicine, University of Health and Allied Sciences (UHAS), Ho in 2023, where I currently serve on a post-retirement contract. I have provided academic and clinical leadership in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and assessment across medicine, midwifery, physician assistantship, and allied health programmes, with extensive experience in didactic teaching, bedside instruction, clinical skills training, and supervision up to fellowship and PhD levels.
I have provided strategic leadership in university governance through service on key statutory boards and high-level committees, including the Academic Board, Business Executive Committee, and Academic Planning and Management Committee. I have chaired critical curriculum review and examination malpractice committees, served as an external assessor for academic promotions, contributed to editorial leadership of peer-reviewed journals, and acted as a patron to student associations, strengthening academic standards, institutional integrity, and student mentorship
As committed advocate for women’s health and Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR), I established a Sexual and Reproductive Health Centre at Ho Teaching Hospital in 2021 to deliver dedicated and pro bono services to vulnerable women, earning regional recognition in 2023. I served as Reproductive Health and Family Planning Fellowship Coordinator of the Ghana College of Physicians and Surgeons (2018–2024) and is a national master trainer in family planning. As fully registered clinician since 1994, I have served in a sub-district hospital, and major teaching hospitals, including Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital and Ho Teaching Hospital, where he was Lead Clinician in Obstetrics and Gynaecology (2017–2024). With over 50 peer-reviewed publications and book chapters, my research focuses on family planning, maternal and perinatal health, adolescent reproductive health, unsafe abortion, task-sharing, and health workforce training. I have received multiple awards for excellence in clinical service, teaching, and leadership and continues to mentor trainees nationally and internationally.
