I am the Acting Head of the Traditional Medicine Department at the Institute of Traditional and Alternative Medicine. I worked at the Upper West Regional Hospital as a Medical Herbalist for 8 years, reaching the level of Principal Medical Herbalist and later became the Head of the Herbal Medicine Department, following an initial 7 years as a Pharmacy Technologist at the same hospital.
I am currently pursuing a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) Degree in Pharmacognosy at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) and I hold a Master of Philosophy (MPhil) in Pharmacognosy from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Kumasi; a Bachelor of Science in Herbal Medicine (KNUST) and Higher National Diploma (HND) in Pharmacy Technology from Kumasi Technical University.
My area of research interest is standardization and quality assessment of natural products, especially the safety and effectiveness of agents used in the treatment and management of liver diseases, snakebites and other neglected tropical diseases; as well as the Contribution of Traditional, Complementary and Alternative Medicine (TCAM) practices on health and quality of life.
