I am an Associate Professor of Nursing and currently the Dean of the School of Nursing and Midwifery at the University of Health and Allied Sciences (UHAS). I am a distinguished nurse educator, researcher and academic leader with expertise in nursing education, health services management, maternal and child health, gerontology and health systems research. I hold a PhD in Nursing Science from Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University, South Africa; an MPhil in Health Services Management from the University of Ghana, Legon; an MSc in Gerontology from the University of Southampton, United Kingdom; and a BSc in Nursing from the University of Ghana. I hold additional professional qualifications in business management, human resource management and HIV counselling and care.

I have built a distinguished career spanning clinical practice, academia and institutional leadership. Before joining academia, I served as a Staff Nurse and HIV/AIDS Counsellor at Bongo District Hospital and later worked as a Tutor and Clinical Coordinator at the Nurses’ Training College in Bolgatanga. I also served as Medical Project Manager for Projects Abroad, Ghana, where I led community health projects across several regions. Since joining UHAS in 2013, I have held several leadership positions including Lecturer, Senior Lecturer, Head of the Department of Nursing among others. 

As a researcher and scholar, I have made significant contributions to nursing and health systems research in Ghana and beyond. My research focuses on maternal and child health, nursing workforce issues, healthcare utilization, geriatric care and strengthening health systems. I have published over fifty (50) articles in reputable international peer-reviewed journals and have presented my research at national and international conferences. I also supervise postgraduate students and contribute to curriculum development and capacity building in nursing education.

I have served on several key university boards and professional bodies, including the UHAS Council, Nursing and Midwifery Council and the Ghana College of Nurses and Midwives. I am recognized as the first male nurse in Ghana to attain the rank of Associate Professor of Nursing, marking an important milestone in the advancement of the nursing profession in the country. Through my leadership, scholarship and mentorship, I continue to contribute significantly to nursing education, research and health policy in Ghana and across Africa.
