About me
I am a Senior Lecturer and Head of the Nursing Department, School of Nursing and Midwifery at the University of Health and Allied Sciences.
Education
I hold a PhD in Nursing Science from the Nelson Mandela University, Republic of South Africa. I also hold a Master of Philosophy in Health Service Administration and a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing both from the University of Ghana, Legon. In addition, I obtained a Master of Education (Teaching in Higher Education) from the University of Cape Coast and I am a Registered Nurse, licensed by the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Ghana.
Work experience
I have vast experience both as a lecturer and clinical nurse. I am an experienced lecturer with over twelve years of experience of teaching at the university. I teach courses at the postgraduate and undergraduate levels, supervised and graduated a number of students at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels in UHAS. I am also a thesis supervisor at the Ghana College of Nurses and Midwives, where I supervise a number of students in their thesis. Before joining UHAS, I practiced as a Senior Nursing Officer at the Trust Hospital, Osu-Accra; and C & J Medicare Hospital, Accra. I also taught briefly at St. Karol School of Nursing, Aplaku-Accra and Western Hills Nursing Training School, Ofankor-Accra.
Research
My area of research interests include non-communicable diseases research; health service access and utilisation among vulnerable populations, especially rural dwellers and clinical nursing research including quality nursing care, burnout and patient safety culture.
I am currently leading two research projects focusing on hypertension and climate change.
I have published several research articles in peer-reviewed journals and a reviewer for a number of journals including BMC Nursing, BMC Health Service Research, Plos One, Discovery Health, Sage Open and Sage Open Nursing, among others.
