Profile

I am a Senior Research Fellow and Director of the Centre for Non-Communicable Diseases Research (CNCDR) at the Institute of Health Research (IHR), University of Health and Allied Sciences (UHAS), Ho, Ghana. I am an experienced public health researcher and health economist with over 20 years of experience in health research, economic evaluation, implementation science and health systems research.

Prior to joining UHAS in 2019, I worked for over 15 years at the Navrongo Health Research Centre (NHRC), one of Ghana's leading health research institutions. Over the course of my career, I have contributed to and led research addressing a wide range of public health priorities, including non-communicable diseases, maternal and child health, malaria, healthcare financing, clean cookstove interventions, implementation research and health systems strengthening.

I hold a PhD in Public Health, specialising in Health Economics, from the University of Heidelberg, Germany; a Master of Public Health in Health Economics from the University of Cape Town, South Africa; and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics and Geography from the University of Cape Coast, Ghana. My multidisciplinary training enables me to integrate economic, epidemiological, health systems and implementation perspectives to address complex public health challenges and generate rigorous evidence to inform policy and practice.

I also contribute to the training and mentorship of the next generation of public health professionals through teaching at the School of Nursing and Midwifery, the Fred N. Binka School of Public Health, and the School of Pharmacy at UHAS. I am committed to strengthening research capacity and fostering multidisciplinary collaborations that support the generation and uptake of evidence for improved health outcomes.

I have over 80 articles published in peer-reviewed scientific journals and have presented my research at numerous national and international conferences. I also serve as a peer reviewer for several academic and scientific journals.

As a trained Health Economist, my core areas of expertise include economic evaluation of health interventions and programmes, cost-effectiveness and cost-of-illness analyses, health financing, implementation research, health systems research and the translation of research evidence into policy and practice. My research is particularly focused on generating rigorous, context-relevant evidence to improve the efficiency, equity, quality and sustainability of health systems, particularly in resource-constrained settings.
