I am a Lecturer in the Department of Nutrition and Dietetics, School of Allied Health Sciences (SAHS), University of Health and Allied Sciences (UHAS). I joined the University in December 2016 as an Assistant Lecturer and was appointed Lecturer effective 1st November 2023.
I previously served as the Head of the Dietetic Unit in the Department of Nutrition and Dietetics from 18th March 2019 to 2024, during which I provided academic leadership and contributed to curriculum development and the coordination of dietetic training activities. I am currently the Registration and Examinations Officer for SAHS, a position I have held since 2023, where I support the administration of academic records, examinations and student progression within the School.
My academic responsibilities include lecturing undergraduate students in Medical Nutrition Therapy, supervising students during clinical rotations and Vocational Training and contributing to the development and review of departmental curricula. I am also involved in dietetic counselling and nutrition education for inpatients at the Medical and Surgical wards, as well as outpatients at the Out-Patient Department (OPD) of the Ho Teaching Hospital (HTH).
My teaching philosophy is grounded in student-centred, competency-based learning, with a strong emphasis on linking theory to clinical practice. I strive to equip students with the knowledge, critical thinking skills and professional ethics required for effective nutrition and dietetic practice. I place particular importance on evidence-based decision-making, practical clinical exposure and mentorship to prepare students for real-world healthcare settings.
My academic and research interests focus on Medical Nutrition Therapy, with emphasis on obesity, type 2 diabetes mellitus, hypertension and evidence-based nutrition interventions for the prevention and management of nutrition-related non-communicable diseases, particularly within the Ghanaian and sub-Saharan African context.
