Dr. Emmanuel Manu is a public health researcher, academic, and health promotion consultant with extensive experience in higher education, research, postgraduate supervision, and professional capacity development. He currently serves as a Senior Lecturer in Public Health Promotion in the Department of Population and Behavioural Sciences, Fred N. Binka School of Public Health, University of Health and Allied Sciences (UHAS), Ho, Ghana.

He obtained his master’s and PhD degrees in Health Promotion from the Walter Sisulu University in South Africa and a BSc degree from the University of Cape Coast. With over eight years of university-level teaching and research experience, Dr. Manu has made significant contributions to public health education, research and academic leadership. His expertise spans undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, research mentorship, curriculum development and the supervision of graduate and undergraduate research projects. He has successfully mentored numerous public health professionals and emerging researchers in Ghana and beyond.

Dr. Manu’s research focuses on reproductive health promotion, addiction prevention, treatment and rehabilitation, maternal and child health, infectious diseases, and health systems research. His work employs both qualitative and quantitative research methodologies and has resulted in numerous publications in high-impact international peer-reviewed journals. His research has informed evidence-based public health policy and practice in Ghana and other low- and middle-income settings.

Beyond teaching and research, Dr. Manu has held several academic leadership positions, including Acting Dean (intermittently) and Head of the Department of Population and Behavioural Sciences and previously served as the Sandwich Programme Coordinator at the Fred N. Binka School of Public Health. He has also served on numerous university committees, contributed to curriculum development and quality assurance initiatives and participated in external academic assessment and accreditation activities.

Dr. Manu is actively engaged in the international academic community as an Editor for BMC Public Health, a peer reviewer for several leading international journals and an external examiner for postgraduate theses. His professional contributions have been recognized through competitive research funding, including the Royal Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene Early Career Grant.

He is a member of several professional organizations, including the Public Health Association of South Africa (PHASA), the South African Council for Educators (SACE), the Institute of Health Promotion and Education (IHPE), the Allied Health Professions Council (AHPC), and the National Association for Addiction Professionals (NAADAC). Dr. Manu remains committed to advancing public health through excellence in teaching, impactful research, academic leadership, and evidence-informed policy and practice
