I am an early career researcher and academic in the Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry in the School of Pharmacy, University of Health and Allied Sciences (UHAS).
As an emerging academic, I currently lecture and guide undergraduate pharmacy students in foundation, organic, physical, analytical and medicinal chemistry courses. As a researcher, I am dedicated to advancing knowledge in the specific area of medicine quality and also generally in pharmaceutical chemistry.
My research focuses mainly on developing and applying analytical techniques with the aid of chemometrics to assess the quality of pharmaceuticals and herbal medicines. The techniques particularly target identification and chemical authentication, content assessment of marker compounds and fingerprint analysis, purity assessments and stability studies. I also use these techniques to develop quality standards/specifications and apply them in medicine quality surveillance.
I am committed to fostering collaboration and knowledge exchange. I actively participate in collaborative research projects within and outside the university, engaging with peers and mentors to broaden my perspectives in the field of pharmaceutical chemistry, with application in medicine quality. I am also dedicated to mentoring aspiring researchers. I have published in several peer-reviewed journals and presented his findings at several scientific conferences and workshops, thereby contributing to scholarly discourse. I also serve as a peer reviewer for reputable journals like Phytomedicine, Journal of Applied Microbiology, Analytical Chemistry Letters, PLoS One and Scientific African.
I am an active member of the Pharmaceutical Society of Ghana, Society for Medicinal Plant and Natural Product Research (GA), Western African Network of Natural Products Research Scientists, African Phytomedicine Scientific Society and the International Association for the Advancement of High-Performance Thin Layer Chromatography (HPTLC Association).
