I am a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Pharmacognosy & Herbal Medicine, School of Pharmacy, University of Health and Allied Sciences, Ho. I am a researcher with expertise in Natural Drug Product Discovery, Phytochemistry, Pharmacognosy and Herbal Medicine. I am currently the Vocational Training (VT) Coordinator for the School of Pharmacy and the Examinations Officer of the Department of Pharmacognosy & Herbal Medicine.
I hold a Ph.D. in Pharmacognosy from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Ghana. I also hold a Membership (MPCPharm) from the West African Postgraduate College of Pharmacists and an MPhil (Pharmacognosy) and BPharm (Pharmacy) from the KNUST, Kumasi.
Research
My area of research interest includes Drug Discovery from Natural Products (anti-infective agents), Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTDs), Antimicrobial Resistance and Stewardship and the Development of Quality Systems for Herbal Medicines. My doctoral research focused on the Anthelmintic Activity of Plant Extracts and Polyphenolic Compounds on Parasitic Nematodes, using Caenorhabditis Elegans as a Study Model. I have expertise in Phytochemical Analysis, Bioassay Techniques, Microscopy, Chromatographic, Chemometric and Spectroscopic Analyses and QPCR Techniques.
I have some experience in grantsmanship. I was a PI for the UHAS Research Fund, Seed Grant (2019-2020) and a Co-Investigator for Commonwealth Health Partnerships for Antimicrobial Stewardship (CwPAMS) grants (2019 to 2025).
I am a member of professional organizations, including Pharmaceutical Society of Ghana (PSGH), International Pharmaceutical Federation (FIP), Society for Medicinal Plant and Natural Product Research (GA) and the African Phytomedicine Scientific Society (APSS) among others.
