I am Agyapong Kwabena Foisel, a thirty-year-old male. I enrolled at the Brother Tarcisius Prosthetics and Orthotics Training College, a KNUST-affiliated health training facility to obtain a Diploma in Prosthetics and Orthotics technology after completing my secondary education. Except for the occasional individuals on the street, I had no real interaction with people with disabilities before I started college. 

In my society, people with disabilities were not respected and many even believed they were no better than beggars. However, during my education, I learnt that disability is not inability. I completed my one-year mandatory service at Brother Tarcisius Prosthetics and Orthotics Training College following my three years of study there. Teaching and learning provided me with an invaluable experience in designing orthotic and prosthetic devices to help people with disabilities live as close to a normal life as possible.

 Later, I moved to St. Joseph Orthopaedic Hospital, where I was able to observe directly how assistive technology can improve the lives of people with disabilities. My knowledge of the intricate relationships that exist between disability, rehabilitation and social inclusion has grown as a result of my experiences. I am currently employed at the University of Health and Allied Sciences, where I obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Orthotics and Prosthetics.

 I have a strong foundation in the design, fabrication and fitting of prosthetic and orthotic devices thanks to my education.  Having a background in Orthotics and Prosthetics, I have achieved significant experience in helping people with disabilities but I have also learnt that providing devices is just one aspect of good rehabilitation. Understanding the effectiveness of orthotic and prosthetic devices for children with disabilities, as well as how they affect lives and foster inclusive growth, is my area of interest for research.
