I am a pediatric cardiac surgeon, academic, and university administrator with interests in clinical care, medical education, research, and health systems development. I currently serve as Pro Vice-Chancellor of the University of Health and Allied Sciences (UHAS), where I have been involved in institutional leadership, academic planning, quality improvement, and strategic development initiatives.
I am a graduate of the University of Ghana Medical School and have completed specialized training in pediatric and congenital heart surgery.
My professional work has focused largely on pediatric and congenital cardiac surgery in Africa, including efforts to improve access to specialized surgical care, training, and research collaboration across the continent. I am a member of the Society of Thoracic Surgeons and currently serve as 2nd Vice President of the World Society for Pediatric and Congenital Heart Surgery and Executive Director of the African Society for Pediatric and Congenital Heart Surgery. In these roles, I have contributed to scientific meetings, educational programs, and collaborative initiatives aimed at strengthening cardiovascular care capacity development in low-resource settings.
At UHAS, I have worked with colleagues on initiatives relating to simulation-based education, institutional governance, research development, quality assurance, and university rankings. I am particularly interested in the role of innovation, interdisciplinary collaboration, and technology in advancing health professions education and healthcare delivery in Ghana and Africa.
My academic interests include pediatric and congenital heart surgery, digital health, patient safety, medical education, and healthcare leadership. I am also interested in mentorship, institutional development, and the integration of professionalism and ethics into health training.
Beyond my clinical and academic work, I have a keen interest in Christianity, history, leadership development, governance, the study of interpersonal relationships, values, and social systems that promote individual and institutional flourishing.
